Medical thermal blanket

As a design project for The Surgical Company, Actiflow optimized the design of several thermal blankets. Thermal blankets are medical devices which are used to keep patients warm during anaesthesia.

Actiflow used both CFD flow simulations and infrared measurements to visualise the airflow through the blankets and to understand the acting flow phenomena. With the gained insights, new concepts for optimal distribution of the hot air were developed, prototyped and tested. Using an iterative design process, the optimal layout of several thermal blanket have been determined. The resulting designs were patented by our customer, The Surgical Company.
